As a family-focused organisation, Sheldon actively supports organisations and activities in the local area and further afield.

Some of the groups we provide financial and in-kind support to include:

  • Newport Surf Life Saving
  • Watoto
  • St Luke’s Grammar School
  • Reef Riders Longboard Classics
  • Winston Hills Soccer Team

In addition, our staff are frequently involved in one-off events and sponsorship opportunities. Along with annual participation in Movember, David and Robert who enjoy golf, regularly participate in a number of charity golf events, recently including:

  • 2011: George Marrett Memorial Golf Day supporting Epilepsy Action Australia

In order to foster a sense of community and family amongst our staff, we have fortnightly barbeques, daily all-staff meetings, quarterly birthday celebrations and regular family events.

We’re proud to play an active part in supporting the health and wellbeing of the local and global community.

Newport Surf Life Saving

Newport SLSC AussiesSince 2004 Sheldon has donated $70,000 to the Newport Surf Life Saving Club. These financial contributions have allowed the club’s boat crews to purchase two new boats. As well as a recent contribution that enabled the crews to enter the Ocean Thunder Surfboat Series for the first time.

Newport Surf Life Saving Club works to educate the community to be competent and safe in the beach/surf environment. The club has a strong focus on educating children and providing them with a range of healthy activities.

Other Newport sponsors include Coles, Graffiti Gone, URM, Temper zone. ItS Australia, Lines on and Pittwater RSL.

Watoto MudbrickhutsWatoto is an organisation that cares for orphans and widows in Uganda. Its goal is to raise the next generation of Ugandan leaders. Watoto cares for orphans by rescuing parentless children and placing them with loving families rather than in large orphanages. These children receive holistic care and an excellent education.

St Luke’s Grammar School regularly sends a team of year 11 students to Uganda to pay for and assist in building new dwellings. In 2009 Sheldon donated $10,000 towards building huts, and provides ongoing financial support within the community.

St Luke’s Grammar School

St Lukes Computer RoomAs a family-oriented organisation, aligning with a school that fosters healthy personal development, emotional wellbeing and an ongoing dedication to self-improvement was a natural choice.

Educating young people to face the challenges of the 21st century is a significant undertaking. Sheldon has provided assistance by completing the fitout of the computer room, as well as supplying workstations and furniture to the school.

St Luke’s School has provided Sheldon with a Certificate of Appreciation for its ongoing support, which has also included taking on students for work experience.

Reef Riders Longboard Classics

Reef Riders Longboard ClassicsA family-oriented competition, Sheldon has sponsored the Reef Riders Longboard Classic since 2000. This annual competition for long boarders of all ages is held at Long Reef SLSC, located on Sydney’s northern beaches.

Long Beach SLSC not only awards trophies for main categories – it also hands out encouragement awards, trophies for the smallest wave and for the youngest competitor. The competition’s dedication to valuing every participant aligns with Sheldon’s dedication to recognising the contribution of every member of the team.

Winston Hills Soccer Team

Winston Hills Soccer TeamSheldon also supports the Winston Hills under 13s soccer team. Among other activities, Sheldon purchased new uniforms for the team.

The Winston Hills Club has teams for both men and women of all age groups, and fosters a strong sense of community through regular newsletters and events.
