Building G, 1 Homebush Bay Drive
Design + Construct
The client approached Sheldon as they felt it’s existing space did not reflect its culture of convey the brand identity to visitors and staff. The existing space wasn’t warm or welcoming, and the team we’re eager to be modern, agile and insipiring with their office environment. Following a workplace strategy and visioning session, the team knew that it needed to remove closed, fixed spaces which were wasting space. Operating in an environment that was paper heavy, full of outdated furniture & closed spaces with partitions.
The Sheldon team worked closely with Hilti to understand the unique ways in which its staff work, to design spaces and furniture to suit. In particular, team leads didn’t need individual offices, although they needed space as their colleagues often joined them for a quick meeting. Sheldon’s manufacturing unit was able to create custom workstations within the short time frame that suited these spaces and needs.
A variety of spaces were created, including collaboration rooms which integrate sit-to-standing workstations and technology to quickly change their use at the click of a few buttons.
The new design works to the design brief created within the workplace strategy. While it maintains individual workspaces, there are large collaborative areas and fit for purpose meeting rooms for staff and visitors alike, the circulation flows, while spaces to gather and socialise are throughout the design.
