Four floors of flexible and functional workplace in Canberra.

Sheldon created a workspace for this government agency that is future proof and flexible enough to meet changing workplace needs. It’s a space that can expand, contract and adapt while supporting the government agency’s employee value proposition for attracting and retaining the best people.

Solution

Several meeting and collaborative spaces ensure the space is functional whilst inspiring innovation and creativity. The variety of collaboration zones encourage micro communities within the space, while the light-filled kitchen provides opportune space for relaxation and staff gatherings. Sit-to-stand workstations and hot desks were a key component in facilitating this.

End-of-Trip facilities are provided in the building for staff use if they run/cycle to work. Sheldon’s in-house manufacturing provided larger lockers for staff that wanted to store their gear at work for lunch time exercise sessions.

Sheldon promoted lighted exposure through the introduction of dual layer roller blinds to the perimeter to control thermal and glare comfort throughout the day. Meeting rooms were placed on the perimeter of the building had glazing and curtains installed so when there weren’t any confidential meetings, the curtains were open to allow natural light to flow into the rest of the office spaces.

Sheldon worked with the appointed AV provider by involving our in house Electrical/Data Project Manager to collaborate early on in the process. This ensured a seamless and timely delivery of a successful AV integration. In addition to this Sheldon undertook R & D with our internal manufacturing division to create an efficient wall unit that incorporated the audio/visual requirements whilst integrating with the overall design concept.

Result

Required inspections were completed 4 weeks prior to the move in date to allow for rectification prior to occupation. Despite a tight deadline, Sheldon completed the company relocation without any delays.

Working with The Government Agency’s Indigenous Procurement Plans across all four floors we incorporated the use of furniture, contractors, artworks and artifacts supplied by Indigenous businesses.
