A refreshing take on a government workplace.

A longstanding client, Sheldon has completed four workplace design and construction projects in both Sydney and Melbourne for the Federal Treasury, including a combined workspace with the Australian Taxation Office at 201 Kent St, Sydney.

Solution

For the Treasury and ATO’s space, the existing fitout needed to be brought up to security standards. A lot of high end security measures were implemented, including the split tenancy zone three wall to divide the divisions. The mechanical system was also upgraded to include security grills. All partitions needed to be acoustically soundproof, especially necessary due to the shared nature of the space.

Constructed during a Covid lockdown, the project lost one week of construction time. Sheldon made up for lost time through the utilisation of internal divisions throughout the project.

Result

The refreshing take on the Commonwealth Agency’s space made use of existing materials, while steadily moving into a more expressive and contemporary atmosphere. Due to Sheldon’s inhouse divisions of design, project management, and joinery manufacturing, Sheldon were able to de-risk the project while successfully managing budget and timing to achieve an excellent result for the Treasury and ATO.
