State of the art medical equipment training alongside efficient workspaces.
Following a competitive fixed price tender process, Sheldon was selected to complete a fitout for Siemens Healthineers across two levels, including both an office space and medical equipment training center.
Solution
Utilising internal design, electrical, furniture manufacturing, and partitioning divisions, Sheldon created a space that is practical to Siemens needs, and flows seamlessly between workpoints. Bespoke joinery elements and the adaptive reuse of Siemens’ existing workstations ensured that the company received a timely workplace update whilst maintaining a tight project budget.
Services delivered included:
Interior Design
Construction Management
Partitioning
Electrical Works (NECA Awards Finalist 2023)
Joinery Manufacturing
Electrical Upgrades
With design future proofing, maximum demand calculations, and electrical design considerations due to an increased mechanical load across the floor, Sheldon upgraded the power supply for the fitout. The base building manager’s preference for a unique mechanical design required upgrading the main switchboard switch and running sub mains to give the tenancy an additional 100 amps of power supply. Siemen’s fitout was awarded finalist at the 2023 NECA awards for its electrical design and implementation
Advanced Joinery
Bespoke joinery elements and the adaptive reuse of Siemen’s existing workstations ensured that the company received a timely workplace update whilst maintaining a tight project budget. Movable joinery and furniture allow the training centre to be configured for a range of class sizes and types. Additionally, the feature timber ceiling spanning throughout the 2nd floor stands testament to Sheldon Manufacturing’s joinery capability. The custom piece adds texture and warmth to the space, linking several workpoints into an open plan working environment.
Equiptment Training Centre
The ground floor of the fitout was designed for Siemen’s training centre for its medical equipment. This space consists of three laboratories (for testing equipment), and a modular training centre that can be divided into two separate spaces. Sheldon’s electrical team worked alongside relevant stakeholders to make sure the electrical design accommodated for the amp and spatial requirements of the testing machines.
Modular Spaces
Both the training centre and breakout/ entertaining area are made to be modular through movable walls/joinery, and space is maximised to ensure that staff have a variety of collaboration and quiet work opportunities. This is particularly highlighted in the training centre, where movable partitions allow for different conference room configurations. The new workplace strongly reflects Siemens Healthineer’s status as a boundary-pushing technology services provider, with adaptable spaces allowing for the company’s wide range of operational requirements.
Result
The remarkability of Siemens’ new space comes from how many workpoints and use cases Sheldon was able to fit into 900sqm. Both the training centre and breakout/entertaining area are modular through movable walls, and space is maximised to ensure that staff have a variety of collaboration and quiet work opportunities. The new workplace strongly reflects Siemens Healthineers' status as a boundary-pushing technology services provider.
