Sheldon Interiors win NECA award for new Sydney HQ!

The Commercial X-Small Award at the 2025 National Electrical and Communications Association awards has been taken out by Sheldon's electrical team for the services design and installation in their new 845sqm workplace in Sydney. Targeting a 5-star Green Star and Gold Well rating, the space integrates cutting-edge lighting, sound-scaping, AV, and energy management solutions, a demonstration of the electrical team's capability.

Key electrical initiatives included the design and installation of a circadian rhythm lighting system, Australian-made LED fittings, and a Dynalite automated control network with light harvesting sensors to minimise energy waste. Power was seamlessly integrated into custom joinery, requiring close collaboration between Sheldon’s manufacturing and electrical divisions, while separate EMS metering enabled smart energy management. A complete switchboard upgrade and cabling enhancements to the base building’s VAV control boxes future-proofed the tenancy.

The AV package included flush wall-mounted displays, infrastructure for meeting and breakout spaces, and a Moodsonic soundscaping system delivered through wall, ceiling, and pendant speakers to support wellbeing and neurodiversity. Acoustic integrity (RW45) was preserved in all rooms via specially lined GPO outlets and reconfigured cabling, overcoming challenges in back-to-back meeting spaces.

Sustainability was prioritised through the use of best environmental practice cabling, bulk scheduled deliveries, and recycling of five tonnes of redundant cabling. Over 98% of site waste was diverted from landfill, supported by Procore monitoring.

Sheldon’s electrical team worked collaboratively with consultants Aston and Compass Intelli to optimise efficiency, safety, and quality, delivering the project defect-free. The fitout exemplifies Sheldon’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and training excellence. The outcome is not only a high-performing workplace but also a client showcase of Sheldon’s electrical design and delivery capability.

Congrats to the team on this incredible achievement!
