Recreating a Unique Aesthetic for Global Technology Company

Following the successful completion of Sheldon’s speculative suite on Level 16 at 65 Berry Street, global imaging and technology company Fujifilm approached the team to deliver their new 882 sqm workplace on Level 17.

Having already experienced the quality, aesthetic direction and functionality of the Level 16 fitout, Fujifilm were drawn to a similar design language while adapting the space to support their own operational needs. Delivered within a tight programme and high workplace density, the project demonstrates Sheldon’s ability to translate a successful speculative concept into a tailored workplace that supports both collaboration and focused work.

A Design Story Continued

The Level 17 workplace builds on Sheldon’s earlier fitout on Level 16, delivered in partnership with the building ownership group and quickly recognised for its refined finishes and warm, organic aesthetic. When Fujifilm began searching for a new office in North Sydney, the suite became a natural reference point. Inspired by the existing tone and material palette within the building, the new workplace carries forward the same design language while tailoring the layout to suit Fujifilm’s operational needs. An earthy palette and natural textures create warmth and cohesion across the floor, while the layout balances a dense workstation environment with a strong suite of meeting spaces, including a premium boardroom for client presentations and collaboration. Sit to stand workstations, flexible meeting zones and a variety of collaborative settings support evolving workstyles while maintaining a professional and polished workplace.

Designing with Constraints

While the design direction was clear, the project required careful coordination to respond to the realities of the existing base building. The floorplate included redundant services, a high number of workstation requirements, thirteen offices and a two hour fire rated communications room, all of which needed to be integrated within the layout.

With a tight programme and dense planning requirements, the design team focused on efficient spatial planning and readily available finishes and furniture, ensuring the workplace could be delivered on time without compromising the overall aesthetic. This pragmatic approach allowed the team to maintain the desired design language while keeping the project aligned with programme and budget constraints.

Fast Paced Delivery

Construction of the Fujifilm workplace was delivered within a nine week programme, with the schedule closely tied to the client’s planned move in date. The tight timeline required a coordinated effort across Sheldon’s internal teams, with design, project management and construction working in close alignment to maintain momentum throughout the project. By drawing on lessons from previous works within the building and maintaining clear communication across teams, the project was successfully delivered within the required timeframe. The result is a highly functional workplace that reflects the quality of the Level 16 suite while supporting Fujifilm’s operational needs from day one.
