Designing for the future while honouring the past.
The architectural language of Australia Square provided a foundation for the suites’ designs. The building’s curved floor plates allowed for innovative layouts that integrate with the structure. Workspaces were arranged to maximise natural light and expansive views, enhancing the sense of openness and productivity. A refined material palette, featuring clean-lined joinery, textural finishes, and biophilic elements, creates a balanced and inviting atmosphere. Functionality remains central, with modular furniture and adaptable layouts addressing evolving workplace demands. Modern amenities ensure the suites cater to current business needs while respecting the building’s architectural heritage.
Overcoming challenges and embracing sustainability.
Working within a heritage structure presented unique challenges, including low ceiling heights and outdated mechanical systems. Sheldon’s teams developed innovative solutions to maintain openness while accommodating essential services, such as custom bulkheads and updated ventilation systems to improve airflow and comfort. Sustainability was a key focus, with the reuse of base-building carpets and low-VOC paints for air quality. Energy-efficient LED lighting and modular furniture were also incorporated, ensuring flexibility for future needs and minimising waste.
