A functional blend of laboratories alongside the workplace.
Following a successful tender submission, Sheldon was selected by Weir Minerals to convert an existing warehouse space into office and laboratories, and refurbish the existing ground floor lobby, staircase, and Level 1 office area.
Solution
Sheldon overcame several mechanical and base building challenges during the D&C process through value engineering and the development of a strong client relationship. Amongst these challenges, Sheldon provided a modern fitout to both the ground and first level. Beyond the sleek and functional laboratories, several breakout, meeting, and communal areas inhabit the office area to encourage staff collaboration and productivity. Completing the modern look of the space is joinery from Sheldon manufacturing, textured/feature walls and seating chosen by Sheldon’s in-house design team.
Result
Weir’s result is an optimised space, both in size and functionality. From what was previously a space that struggled to cater for all of Weir’s laboratory and office needs, Sheldon was able to install a collaborative and open plan workplace designed to attracted staff to the office.
In addition, the services coordination for the laboratories display Sheldon’s commitment and expertise in constructing a variety of room types and facilities.
