Improved collaboration and function for Sectra’s Macquarie Park office relocation.

Sheldon led end user client Sectra, a Swedish-based medical imaging IT company, though an office relocation and redesign process in Macquarie Park. Sectra was an existing tenant in the Pinnacle Office Park, where Sheldon has completed multiple speculative suites for building owners Keppel. Choosing to stay within the same building yet relocate to another floor and larger space, Sheldon delivered a brief for Sectra to improve the functionality of their spaces and increase collaboration opportunities amongst their Sydney team.

Workplace strategy revealed key areas for improvement.

The brief given was to improve collaboration, office aesthetics and to give more space and areas and for people to work. Sheldon’s workplace design strategist surveyed all staff to uncover key findings. The need arose for additional meeting rooms, quiet zones, and a more expansive social area that would enable all staff to gather and connect with one another.

  • Meeting and focus spaces: More meeting rooms, private phone areas and quiet zones were added to support deep concentration and small group meetings.

  • Optimised space allocation: Ancillary spaces were reduced, ensuring efficient circulation of floor space, and a reduction in the reception area, making the space more functional.

  • Enhanced social and collaboration areas: The kitchen breakout area was expanded to encourage staff socialisation and dedicated collaboration spaces were added.

Design guided by Sectra’s global branding.

The design concept was guided by the principles of creating a flexible, scalable space that reflects the client’s branding and Swedish heritage while supporting their current needs and accommodating future staff growth. The overall look and feel were based on the client's navy and grey colour palette with light timber highlights. Sit-to-stand workstations were installed across the entire workfloor, ensuring all staff have the option to adjust their seating arrangements throughout the day.

Sheldon’s experience within this building enabled us to expertly design and construct Sectra’s new space on Level One. Sheldon-manufactured joinery was utilised across the workspace, from a bespoke kitchen to workstations, boardroom tables and a spacious, light-filled breakout area. This project marked a successful collaboration between Sheldon’s internal divisions and client.
